The Advanced Graduate Mathematics Certificate is a program designed for current high school mathematics teachers who are either enrolled in or have completed a master’s degree, are interested in getting credentials to teach concurrent dual credit math courses, and have already completed nine credit hours of graduate Mathematics courses through the Graduate Mathematics Certificate or another avenue. The 18 credit sequence of the Advanced Graduate Mathematics Certificate would meet Higher Learning Commission requirements.

Advanced Graduate Mathematics Certificate (9 Credits)

Abstract Component: Choose 3 credits from the following: (3 credits)

MATH 513 - Abstract Algebra I 3 credits
MATH 536 - Number Theory and Cryptography 3 credits
MATH 537 - Cryptography and Codes 3 credits
MATH 561 - Geometry 3 credits
The following courses are offered by other SD System Universities and can be used to meet this requirement:
- MATH 514 Abstract Algebra II
- MATH 713 Advanced Algebra I
- MATH 714 Advanced Algebra II
- MATH 716 Theory: Algebraic Structures

Analytic Component: Choose 3 credits from the following: (3 credits)

MATH 571 - Numerical Analysis 3 credits
MATH 622 - Difference Equations 3 credits

Graduate Math Elective (3 credits)

Any MATH or STAT content course 500 level or higher not used as the Abstract or Applied Mathematics course for this certificate.
