Graduates of the Mathematics program will have a strong background in mathematics with a specialization in either Information Systems, Cryptography, Secondary Education, or Intermediate Education.  Students complete the mathematics core and additional mathematics courses tailored to their mathematical specialization which are complemented with minors in technology and additional support courses.  Student with this degree will enter the job market with strong quantitative and technology skills after receiving formal training in analytic and algebraic techniques with a focus on crucial thinking and problem solving.

A fairly unique and innovative aspect of the Mathematics degree at Dakota State University allows students in other majors to obtain a Mathematics major in addition to their primary major thus expanding their employment opportunities and enhancing future income potential. Students obtaining a degree in Computer Science, Computer Game Design, Cyber Operations, Analytical Science, or Biology only need to complete the Mathematics Core and the Mathematics component of the Mathematics with a specialization in Information Systems or Cryptography major to earn this as a second major.
